This week's stats are pretty consistent with last week's. Of note for sellers, real estate in Rockland County is selling every day. You may be feeling that having your house on the market during the holiday season is a bit of a waste of time. Not true! Buyers are still out there during the holiday season, and serious buyers, at that. (One year I sold two houses the week between Christmas and New Year's.) If you need to sell, take heart, spruce up your house, and get real about your price! There is a buyer out there for you.
Buyers: Banks are indeed issuing mortgages. Standards are tighter, making it more difficult to get a mortgage loan than in recent years. However, I'm hearing more and more creative financing solutions being proposed by real estate agents and mortgage loan professionals. If you're thinking about buying, talk to a real estate agent and a mortgage professional. If a loan is out of reach now, you can put together a plan to put yourself in a position to buy in the future.
